- Go to the customer service counter at any station. Big stations such as Ameerpet, Miyapur, HITEC City and Secunderabad usually have the shortest wait outside rush hour.
- Ask for a Smart Card and pay the card fee plus a starting balance. Load enough for a few days of travel.
- Tap the card on the reader at the entry gate.
- Tap the card again at the exit gate. The fare, with the 10% discount, is deducted when you exit.

Smart Card or QR ticket?
A QR ticket, bought on your phone through the official app or a payment app, is the easiest choice for visitors and occasional riders: no card fee and no refund to claim when you leave. The Smart Card is better value if you ride most days, because of the 10% discount.

Tips for HITEC City commuters
- From Miyapur, Kukatpally or LB Nagar, take the Red Line to Ameerpet and change to the Blue Line towards Raidurg.
- From Uppal, Nagole or Secunderabad, stay on the Blue Line all the way to HITEC City or Raidurg.
- Rush hour at Ameerpet runs roughly 8:30 to 10:30 and 17:30 to 20:00. Walk to the far end of the platform, where coaches are less crowded.
- Autos, bike taxis and company shuttles wait outside HITEC City and Raidurg stations for the last stretch to Madhapur, Mindspace and the Financial District.
Common problems and fixes
- Gate will not open: the balance is too low. Recharge and try again.
- Card not read: hold it flat on the reader for a second. If it keeps failing, ask at the counter; a damaged card can usually be replaced and the balance moved.
- Online recharge not showing: tap the card at a station recharge machine, or ask at the counter with your payment reference.
