The TTC charges a flat fare for every trip on the subway, streetcars, buses and the new Line 5 and Line 6, whatever the distance. An adult fare is $3.30 when you tap a PRESTO card, a credit or debit card or a phone, and $3.35 in cash.
Every tap gives you two hours of free transfers, and since 2026 the TTC caps fares monthly: after 47 paid fares in a calendar month, the rest of your trips that month are free.

How the monthly fare cap works
Use the same PRESTO card, bank card or phone for every trip. Once you have paid 47 fares in a calendar month, all further TTC trips that month are free. At $3.30 a trip, the most you pay in a month is $155.10.
The count resets on the first of each month. Cash fares and PRESTO Tickets do not count, and the UP Express and GO Transit are separate.

UP Express and GO Transit are separate
The UP Express to Pearson Airport and GO Transit regional trains are run by Metrolinx, not the TTC, so TTC fares, day passes and the monthly cap do not cover them. The UP Express from Union Station to Pearson costs $9.25 with PRESTO or $12.35 standard.
