How to read the Sydney Metro map
- Follow the colour. Each line has its own colour, and the same colour is used on platform signs and inside trains.
- Use the end station to pick a direction. Platform signs show the terminus a train is heading to, so check which end of the line your stop is towards before you board.
- Look for interchange symbols. Where lines cross, the map marks the station as an interchange. Allow a few extra minutes for long walking corridors at big hubs.
- Check the fare zones. The Sydney Metro uses fare zones, shown on the official map. Longer journeys across more zones cost more.
- Check for closures. Weekend engineering work can close sections of a line. The operator's website and app list planned closures.
