How to Get the T-casual
Buy tickets at any metro station ticket machine (English menu available, card or cash). The T-casual costs €13.00 for 10 journeys in Zone 1. Tickets are sold on paper or on the rechargeable T-mobilitat card, depending on the machine.

T-casual or Hola Barcelona?
Count your rides. A T-casual gives you 10 journeys for €13.00, so for a three-day trip with three or four rides a day it usually covers you for about €13 to €16 in total. A 72-hour Hola Barcelona card costs more, but includes the airport metro in both directions (worth €11.80) and unlimited rides.
Rule of thumb: if you are arriving and leaving by the L9 metro and riding a lot, Hola Barcelona is good value. If you are taking the Aerobús or the R2 Nord train to the airport, a T-casual is almost always cheaper.
How to buy a T-casual, step by step
- At any metro ticket machine, tap the flag icon to switch to English.
- Choose T-casual and Zone 1 (all of central Barcelona is Zone 1).
- Pay by card or cash and take your ticket.
- Validate it at the gate each time you start a journey. Changes within 75 minutes are free.
Mistakes to avoid
- Trying to use a T-casual at the airport metro stations: the gates will not accept it. Buy the airport ticket or use the R2 Nord train.
- Buying single tickets for every ride: after three rides, a T-casual is already cheaper.
- Leaving Zone 1 without the right ticket: Montserrat, Sitges and other day trips are in outer zones and need a different fare.
- Keeping your ticket in a pocket with your phone: magnetic paper tickets can stop working. Keep them separate.

Tips for Using the T-casual
- Tap in and tap out with the same card at every gate. The fare is worked out when you exit.
- Top up before you travel, through the official Barcelona Metro app or website where available, or at station machines.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I share a T-casual between two people?
No. The T-casual is for one person. For groups, the T-grup (70 journeys over 30 days for €91.00) can be shared by people travelling together, or each person can buy their own T-casual.
Does the T-casual work on the Aerobús airport bus?
No. The Aerobús is a separate service with its own ticket. The T-casual is valid on the R2 Nord airport train from Terminal 2, but not at the airport metro stations.
Is there an unlimited day ticket for Barcelona?
Yes. The T-dia costs €12.00 in 2026 for unlimited travel in Zone 1 for one day. For stays of two to five days, the Hola Barcelona card (from about €18.70 for 48 hours) includes the airport metro too.
Can I pay by contactless bank card on the metro?
TMB has been introducing contactless payment at metro gates, but ticket machines remain the most reliable option. Buying a T-casual is also far cheaper than paying single fares.
